Materials

Cut List

  • 12”x7”
  • 12”x10” one end 22.5 degree
  • 3.75”x about 4” from long end to long end (this piece can be scrap wood. The width can be adjusted, but the height of 3.75” needs to be the same). One end is 22.5° and the other end is 45°.

Directions

  1. Cut all pieces.
  1. Sand your pieces. I spent a little extra time on the corners that are exposed. I wanted them to have a softer look.
  1. Apply stain and wipe off the extra.

  1. Mark the bottom piece for hardware holes. Also make a mark at 3” where you are going to place the top piece. See below for the diagram.
  1. Drill holes for the stopper (drawer pull) hardware. I used a small drill bit knowing I would come back to it later.
  1. Add a bead of glue to the top piece on the side with a 22.5° angle. We are going to place this at our 3” line on the bottom piece.

  1. Screw the bottom and top boards together. We are going to screw from the  bottom so that our screws are hidden. Make sure to create a pilot hole before you screw your boards together.

  1. Add glue to the angle edges on your support piece.
  1. Add pilot holes to where you will screw your support piece in. Screw from the bottom and the back so none of the screws are visible.

  1. Drill for your stopper(drawer pull) hardware. Make sure you are using a drill bit that is big enough for the screw hardware to fit in. If your drill bit is too big, the stopper could be wiggly. Also check that the holes for your stopper line up with the holes that you already drilled. That way you can adjust if you need to.

  1. Use a screwdriver for your stopper hardware. That will help the screws not strip out.

  1. Make sure your cookbook stand is completely dry before adding a cookbook onto it.
