Winter is coming to an end and I’ve got summer on my mind! When we got our dog, he decided that that patio furniture we had would be a good chew toy. We’ve been needing a new set of outdoor furniture so here’s my version! It might seem like a complicated project, but just take it one section at a time and you’ll have a new set of chairs in no time!

Directions

  1. Cut all of your pieces. Keep your wood organized by sections.

  1. Sand all of your wood. The amount of prep work needed will be determined by what type of wood you bought.
  1. Stain your wood. You will want to use an outdoor stain to protect from the elements.
  1. Assemble each section of the chair. Keep in mind, you will have TWO side sections.
  1. Note: make sure to predrill each hole with a small drill bit. This will keep the wood from cracking
  1. If you do not want to see the screw holes, then you can use a pocket hole jig. You can also fill your holes in at the end with wood filler.
  1. Once each section is assembled, we will put it all together.
  1. Attach the sides to the seat.

  1. Placing the back might be trickier if you only have one set of hands. I used clamps to hold my back on. Screw from the bottom and the sides. We want the back to be well attached.

  1. Once everything is attached you can fill the holes if you would like to. Place wood filler in each screw hole and wipe off the excess. Let it dry.
  1. Give the areas you filled a quick sand. We don’t want to be able to see the wood filler on the chair.
  1. Touch up the chair with stain. You will most likely have some areas that will need stained including the wood filler and the ends of boards you cut.
  1. Add your cushion
