DIY Fall Leaf Wreath

2–4 minutes

Living in Southern Oregon, Fall doesn’t usually start until November. We get days here and there that feel like fall, and then the weather decides to go back to 90 degrees. I really like that this wreath feels like fall, but has a hint of summer colors in it. It seems like it fits right in with the Southern Oregon Fall.  It’s completely made of wood, and each leaf is painted. Whether you are making to sell or want a fun DIY project, this wreath adds just enough flair to your fall decorations!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  1. Glowforge
  2. Wreath SVG File
  3. MDF
  4. Paint
  5. Paint Brush
  6. E6000 Glue
  7. String to Hang

Steps:

  1. If you have a glowforge, then there are many different materials you can use for your wreath. I used ⅛” MDF that I get from a local mill. They put out scraps every week and I drive by once in a while to see what they have. They regularly have MDF which is awesome! If you have something else on hand, then that’s great too! I cut my MDF on 130 speed and full power.
  2. Go ahead and upload the file for the wreath. I enlarged the file until the circle was as big as it could get. I was able to fit this file into two sheets of MDF.
  3. After all of the pieces are cut, you can now paint. I usually paint letters with spray paint and other bigger pieces with a paint brush.
  4. I separated my leaves into 10 different colors that were fall colored. I added a splash of blue to give some flare to my wreath.
  5. Go ahead and paint all of your leaves and welcome cut out. I did not paint the circle since it was covered completely by the leaves. This is when you get to be creative! The color choices are endless.
  6. Before I glue the leaves on, I tie on a small piece of string, you could also use ribbon, jute, or anything else you have on hand. When I’m gluing on the leaves I add a dab where I tied the string on just to give it a little extra strength.
  7. Once the paint has dried, the leaves are ready to be glued on. I use E6000 glue and I’ve never had a problem with it. I like to lay out the leaves to map out how I want them and then I glue them on.
  8. Once the leaves are glued, you can now glue the welcome cut out.
  9. Hang it up and enjoy!!

Whether you are a fall fanatic or just like the thought of cooler weather, this wreath is the perfect way to jump into the new season. Paint it neutral or or add a splash of color. This wreath is adorable and completely customizable.
