When I make products to sell, I try and make my costs low and my efficiency high. Maybe a mug press would be more efficient, but I don’t want to fork out a couple hundred dollars at this point in order to get one. I also don’t have the space to get all the supplies in order to do sublimation printing. Here’s when the Cricut Infusible Ink comes into play! This saves me space and for right now money. I seriously can’t get over how cool this stuff is. It comes on what looks like paper and the finished product is seamless.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  1. Sublimation Coffee Mugs
  2. Cricut Infusible Ink Transfer Sheets (There are so many to choose from)
  3. Heat resistant tape
  4. Convection Oven
  5. Cricut
  6. Cricut Mat

Steps:

1. First you will need to make sure you have sublimation mugs. I got mine from amazon. Cricut has not come out with their own brand, but there are many options online. They have a special coating that will take in the infusible transfer ink. Regular coffee cups won’t work. Trust me, I tried

2. There are so many options for the Cricut Infusible Sheets. I like the clean look of it and I used plaid! When I first opened the package I thought they gave me the wrong color! I was wrong, and thankfully I tried it out before I returned it. The colors look faded on the sheet. Once it has infused, it becomes the solid plaid we expected.

3. We are going to start out by creating a design. I used a simple moose image. I uploaded it onto design space. Once you have a design and are ready to create, it’s time to get your mat ready. The sheets go color side up. Make sure to mirror your image and choose the Cricut Infusible Sheets on your cutting material. This will be a custom option.

4. Now you are ready to create!

5. Once the image has cut, carefully peel the sheet off of the mat. Your image is ready to weed. The sheet is going to transfer directly on the coffee mug. Take off the part of the cut image you don’t want.

6. Place the image onto the coffee cup. The image needs to be as flat as possible and get the sticky part secure onto the coffee cup.

7. Now you are going to tape the outside of the image to make sure it doesn’t peel up. I use heat resistant  tape . I tried heating the cups without the tape and my image peeled up. It can be so frustrating to ruin a product because that means money lost! Take it from me and DON’T SKIP THIS STEP. I lost about 5 cups from the image peeling and not transferring properly.

8.Now my cup is ready to be put in the oven. I have a convection setting on my oven. I use that and preheat it to 400 degrees. Once the oven hits about 200 degrees I put the cup in and set my timer for 20 minutes. When the 20 minutes is done I pull my cup out and am so excited to check the image I take off the tape and transfer sheet.

9. Your cup is complete! This cup should have a clear image and from what I have tried it should also be dishwasher safe!

This is just my way of making what I have work and trying new things. I tried so many other options make coffee cups without the vinyl look. Weather you are making these for gifts or selling in your business using, the Cricut Infusible Ink transfer sheets will definitely set your products apart!
